Anything Exciting?

I realize that the blog isn't very active at the moment. That will change in the future as we continue to make plans.

Until we have more TAFRU news to post, I'm asking everyone to share any news they might have. You can either leave a comment here or go to the Toukoul Adoptive Families Facebook page and post your news.

I know a couple of our Toukoul families have court dates coming up soon, some families recently passed court and now have their Embassy dates, but I haven't heard any referral news lately.

Has anyone gotten a referral over the last couple of weeks?

For those waiting on a referral, how long have you been waiting now?

Are you waiting for an infant, older child, sibling group, boy or girl?

For those who recently traveled, do you have suggestions for those of us who will be one day travel on our pick up trips?

If you haven't introduced yourself, please do so.

Do you have a blog that you would like us to include on the side bar?

Let's have some fun and get to know each other via cyber space until the day we can meet in person. After all, we are all part of the ever growing Toukoul family :-)

Since I bombarded everyone with tons of questions, the least I can do is start and answer some of my questions for everyone.

It's been 2 months, 1 week and 2 days since our dossier arrived in Ethiopia. We have requested an infant girl up to 12 months of age, so we have a few months to go before referral.

I enjoy reading the blogs linked on the sidebar and feel like I'm getting to know you and your families from the stories you post on your blogs. Some of you I've gotten to know more personally as we chat via Facebook and email.

My future child will most certainly be the best part of this journey, but a close second is the friendships I'm building along the way.

Well, pretty much the same here. Our Dossier made it to ET on May 29th of this year and we're w-a-i-t-i-n-g....
We requested a girl up to 18 month with/without minor SN or correctable needs.
We're overseas and started the process in June of 2008. We ran into problems with immigration and it took about 7 months to get things resolved.
You can put my ET Blog on the side bar, but it's set on private.

Our dossier arrived in Ethiopia on April 28. We requested a boy 0-3 months at referral.

Our blog is linked on the sidebar. It is strictly for documenting our Ethiopian adoption. I post to our other blog, chloester.blogspot.com, more often.

We brought Noah home July 2008 when he was barely 5 months old. He is now a busy 18 month old with a ton of charm and personality.

We are preparing to move overseas at the beginning of 2010, James is already there; so I don't post on our blog very often. Please feel free to put it on the sidebar www.roadtodelaney.blogspot.com

We are really excited to meet everyone next year when we're back in the country.

Shari, James & Noah

Our dossier hit Ethiopia the end of APR. We are waiting for 1 or two children. If one, either gender under 9 mo at referral, if two under 3.
We are excited and waiting!

Hello all. Xander (my husband) and I have been waiting for just over a month. This may not sound like much to anyone else, but we're adopting while living abroad and never thought we'd finish our paperwork. Ever. So we're probably more happy than most to be waiting. Waiting seems like something I can deal with. But ask me how I feel about it again in January and you might get a different answer.

Hi Alana,
we're overseas as well and it took almost a year to finish our paperwork - we had crazy occurrences with USCIS and were even denied once, lol.
the day we finally were put on the waiting list was a huge relieve. Now we can just sit back an "WAIT", lol.

Oh, isn't it the truth, Mel?! No explaining anything to bureaucrats in broken French or running around to various doctor's offices or waiting on hold with immigration. I feel like I could wait happily for months and months. This is definitely the easiest part for us so far. It took us a year and a half to get to the waiting part, and I am so grateful to be here that I just can't find anything to complain about!
